SVHC Information Disclosure (REACH Article 33)
This product's electrolyte contains ethylene glycol dimethyl ether (EGDME, CAS 110-71-4) at concentrations exceeding 0.1% w/w. EGDME is listed on the REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). As an essential component of lithium battery electrolytes, no viable alternative currently exists. This notice informs downstream users of their obligation to submit a notification under Article 33 of the REACH Regulation.
If electrolyte leaks, avoid contact with skin and eyes. If exposure occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention. Do not disassemble, crush, cut, puncture, solder, or expose to fire or water. Use only the specified charger. Incorrect handling or overcharging may cause explosion or fire.
WARNING
- Install the battery with correct polarity (+ and -). Incorrect installation may cause charging or over-discharge.
- Do not short-circuit, heat, dispose of in fire, or disassemble the battery.
- Battery cannot be forcibly discharged. This may cause excess internal gas generation, leading to bulging, leakage, or explosion.
- Do not mix new and used batteries. When replacing, use only the same brand and type for all batteries.
- Remove exhausted batteries from the compartment to prevent over-discharge, which can cause leakage and damage the device.
- Do not solder directly, as this will damage the battery.
- Keep batteries out of children's reach to prevent swallowing. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
- Do not disassemble or deform the battery.
- Do not store or carry batteries with metal objects (keys, coins, etc.) to prevent short circuits.
- Do not submerge batteries in water or expose them to high humidity.
- Do not modify or solder the battery directly.
- If battery leakage occurs, avoid contact with skin and eyes. If contact happens, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention immediately.
- Use only the specified charger. Using an incompatible charger may cause explosion or fire.
CAUTION
- If battery fluid contacts your eyes, flush immediately with running water for at least 15 minutes. Seek immediate medical attention from an ophthalmologist.
- If the battery emits an odor, overheats, changes color, deforms, or shows any other abnormalities during use or storage, remove it from the device immediately and dispose of it.
- Do not mix batteries of different types, brands, or capacities.
- Do not expose batteries to extreme heat (e.g., direct sunlight, radiators).
In compliance with the EU Battery Directive and Waste Framework Directive, producers or their authorized producer responsibility organizations must provide the following information to end-users and distributors for (rechargeable) batteries supplied within an EU Member State:
(a) Role of End Users in Waste Prevention
Follow the device manufacturer's instructions for proper battery insertion and use. Do not store or use batteries in extreme temperatures or high humidity. Remove batteries from devices that will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage or unnecessary discharge. Primary batteries are not rechargeable; do not attempt to recharge them, as this may cause leakage or rupture. When the battery is depleted, encourage users to bring it to designated collection points for potential material recovery or recycling.
(b) Role of end-users in separate collection (Article 64)
End-users must separate spent batteries from other household waste. Do not dispose of batteries in unsorted municipal waste or litter them. Separate collection enables proper treatment and resource recovery (e.g., zinc, manganese, steel, lithium), supporting EU environmental goals.
(c) Separate collection, take-back and collection points; preparation for reuse, repurposing, and treatment
Spent batteries can be returned through: collection bins at retail locations, municipal recycling centers, or designated battery drop-off points. Collected batteries are sorted, pre-treated (including electrolyte neutralization), and recycled for materials. While reuse or repurposing is generally not feasible for primary batteries, material recovery is maximized.
(d) Safety instructions for handling waste batteries
Do not store waste batteries with metal objects to prevent short circuits. If a battery shows signs of leakage (e.g., white or crystalline residue), deformation, or overheating, wear protective gloves and store it separately in a plastic bag. Never dispose of batteries in fire, as this may cause an explosion or release hazardous fumes. Keep batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
(e) Meaning of labels and symbols (Article 13)
Crossed-out wheeled bin symbol: Do not dispose of the battery with unsorted household waste; collect it separately. CE marking: Indicates that the battery (or the device it is designed for) meets applicable EU health, safety, and environmental protection requirements. Keep out of reach of children symbol: Warning to prevent ingestion or mishandling, especially by small children. Do not recharge symbol: This battery is non-rechargeable; attempting to recharge may cause leakage or explosion.
(f) Impact of substances on the environment and human health
Primary batteries contain various materials (zinc, manganese, lithium, etc.). If improperly discarded (e.g., landfilled or incinerated), the electrolyte can leak and contaminate soil and water; heavy metals may accumulate in the environment. Swallowing a battery can cause injury—keep batteries away from children. Improper disposal increases environmental burdens, wastes recoverable materials, and may cause fires or injuries during waste handling. Leaking batteries can cause chemical burns; always handle with care. This information is provided to help end users use and dispose of batteries responsibly, in compliance with EU waste legislation.
